    Work programme for 2014/15 published

    12 Aug 2014

The work programme is an internal programme of projects that the Authority intends to progress during the coming financial year

Feedback has been incorporated from consultation on proposed appropriations and work priorities from 10 September 2013 to 22 October 2013.

Refinement of the work programme has also considered more recent developments, including the identification of top priority projects by the Board.

The Authority is flexible and responsive in its management of its work programme. In the normal course of events it is anticipated that reprioritisation will be required during the year, for example as the information available about specific project develops.

The Authority will review and update its work programme on a regular basis, and will publish summary reports on progress on a quarterly basis.

    Report to the Minister published

    Jan 2014

The Authority has considered the submissions and reported to the Minister of Energy and Resources with its proposed appropriations for 2014/15.

The Minister has approved our recommendations and agreed to release of the report.

The Authority is seeking to keep its own operating costs constant.

The recommended appropriations include an additional $2m in 2014/15, $3m in 2015/16 and $2.5m in 2016/17 for facilitating consumer participation.

Apart from the new funding for facilitating consumer participation, the recommended appropriations are in line with those approved by Cabinet in Budget 2013.

    Consumer and stakeholder surveys 2014

    Jan – Mar 2014

The Authority has released the latest competition, reliability and efficiency (CRE) surveys.

This is the third year that the Authority has conducted surveys of competition, reliability and efficiency in the electricity sector. These surveys were done in August 2011, January/February 2013 and January/February 2014.

There are two surveys, one of consumers and one of electricity industry stakeholders. The results show that the improving trend we observed last year is continuing this year with perceptions of competition in the electricity sector improving over most of the metrics.
