Directly connected consumers
Q. What is the definition of a directly connected consumer?
A. The definition is “a person who consumes electricity that is conveyed to the person directly from the national grid”.
Q. My load is connected to the national grid via a link provided by a lines company. Do I have to submit a statement?
A. The defining criterion is that the consumer is directly connected to the grid. Therefore, any consumer who is connected to the grid via a lines company's assets, even though the connection may be dedicated to the consumer, is not a disclosing participant.
Q. My load is directly connected to the national grid but I pay a retailer for my electricity. Do I have to submit a statement?
A. If you have a direct connection to the grid and purchase electricity then it is immaterial whether you pay the clearing manager directly or pay a retailer. In this case you will still need to submit a statement.
Q. Although my load is directly connected to the grid, I purchase electricity via a fixed price contract and so am not exposed to spot price variations. Do I still have to submit a statement?
A. You will still have to submit a statement. However the statement will indicate that you have no exposure.
An alternative is for you to agree with your supplier to consolidate the statements. In this case your supplier must include your consumption in their return.
Q.I am directly connected to the grid but a related company buys electricity on my behalf. Do I still have to submit a statement?
A. Yes, unless you agree to consolidate the statements. If the statements are consolidated, the related company must include your consumption in their return.
Q. What is the consolidation process?
