Audit requirements under the Code
Audits provide assurance that buyers in the electricity market are correctly invoiced for purchases and that sellers (for example, generators) comply with Code requirements.
The Code provides for a number of different types of audits:
- annual market operation service provider audits
- audits of changes made to market operation service provider systems
- periodic audits for:
- distributors
- metering equipment providers
- reconciliation participants
- approved test houses
- material change audits for:
- distributors
- metering equipment providers
- reconciliation participants
- approved test houses.
The Code requires some audits to be conducted periodically, or on event, while others are either undertaken at our discretion, or there might be specific audit requirements in a market operation service provider agreement that says when they take place.
There are a number of requirements in Part 3, Part 10, Part 11, Part 15 and Part 16A of the Code that explain who must conduct audits and for what purpose.
Participant audits will help maintain industry confidence through COVID19 pandemic.
