How to register as a participant
Participants in the electricity industry must register and supply registration information such as area of activity and contact details.
To register as an industry participant:
Visit the Participant Register and complete the online registration form.
There is no cost to register as an industry participant.

Current exemption from registration for selected participant types
Regulations have been made under Section 110 of the Electricity Industry Act 2010 that exempts two classes of industry participants from the obligation under Section 9 from having to register as participant with the Electricity Authority:
- owners of distributed generation with less than 100 kWh of nameplate capacity connected to a distribution network
- metering equipment owners (MEOs) who are consumers of electricity at the ICP and who own metering equipment only for the purpose of measuring electricity at the ICP.

Changes to registration information
It's important to update your information in the Participant Register if there are any changes to your registration information.
All participants have a statutory obligation to supply registration information to the Authority. Failure to register or to update information is an offence under section 31 of the Electricity Industry Act 2010.
What costs do participants incur?
The Electricity (Levy of Industry Participants) Regulations 2010 allocate a levy that must be paid by all industry participants who perform market-related activities.
