Under-frequency management project
The under-frequency management project is a project that will review the technical and market arrangements for the procurement or mandating of products that are used for the management of under-frequency events on the power system.
The current under-frequency standards are achieved through a combination of mandated generator and HVDC owner asset owner performance obligations (AOPO's), procurement of instantaneous reserves (IR) and mandated automatic under-frequency load shedding (AUFLS) obligations. Each component will be reviewed via a series of sub-projects. These projects are:
- Extended load control project;
- Technical review of IR products;
- Technical review AUFLS arrangements;
- Review of the asset owner performance obligations (AOPO's) and the system Operator's principal performance obligations (PPO's);
- IR cost allocation
- AUFLS exemptions; and
- Consideration of market based AUFLS arrangements.
