Outcome
24 Nov 2016
The enabling Code amendment came into force on 24 November 2016. The amendment will deliver long-term benefits to consumers by improving the reliable supply of electricity to consumers and improving the efficient operation of the electricity industry.
The Authority decided to amend the Code to include fault ride through standards for generating units. The key elements of the standards are:
- Generators connected to a network must ensure their assets remain stable and connected within defined over and under voltage no-trip zones during and immediately after alternating current transmission faults.
- Generators connected to a network must ensure their assets remain stable and connected within a defined over voltage no-trip zone during and immediately after faults on the high voltage direct current link.
- Generators connected to a network must ensure their assets generate reactive current to oppose changes in voltage that occur during and immediately after alternating current transmission faults.
