The key elements of the standards are:

  1. generators connected to a network must ensure their assets remain stable and connected within defined over and under voltage no-trip zones during and immediately after a.c. transmission faults
  2. generators must ensure their assets remain stable and connected within a defined over voltage no-trip zone during and immediately after faults on the high voltage direct current (HVDC) link
  3. generators must ensure their assets generate reactive current to oppose changes in voltage that occur during and immediately after a.c. transmission faults.

The Code amendment will deliver long-term benefits to consumers by contributing to the reliable supply of electricity to consumers and improving the efficient operation of the electricity industry.

We have published the Gazette notice, a paper outlining the reasons for this decision and a summary of the submissions received. The amendment will come into force on 24 November 2016.
