Operational review of Part 6
-
Outcome
28 Feb 2015
We have completed our operational review of Part 6 (review) of Code relating to the connection of distributed generation (DG). The review commenced in late 2011 and has included three consultation papers. The purpose of the review has been to improve the efficiency of the industry processes associated with the connection of DG that are covered under the Code. The review has considered all of Part 6 (and other relevant cross referenced Parts) other than Schedule 6.4 (Pricing Principles), which the Authority is pursuing under a separate workstream.
The feedback received has contributed to a significantly improved Part 6 that now reflects the reality that the majority of new DG connection applications are for relatively small-scale systems that use standards-compliant network interface equipment. Part 6 now enables most small-scale DG, which has a maximum capacity of 10 kW, to follow a more streamlined connection application process than was previously available under the Code.
Amendments were made that came into force on 23 February 2015.
