Trouble shooting (cont.)

If you can’t find your ICP, or the information is incorrect

If you are using the address search function, you may see several addresses returned as part of the search. Sometimes no information might be returned. You may need to change the order of the information in the search address fields. For example you might use Flat 12C, but in the database it may have been stored as 12/C or 3/12.

Start with the least amount of information and build it up if you get too many results. For example if your address is 132A Queen Elizabeth Street, Trentham, Upper Hutt, Wellington, try entering 13, Queen, and Wellington into the fields.

This will bring up every address in Wellington on a street that starts with Queen and has the number 13 at the start of the address.

If you enter *13 it will bring up every address that has a 13 in it for example it could bring up 2513, or 113B as well as 132A.

If you are searching for an ICP identifier to advise a retailer of a switch, we suggest that you ask your preferred power company to locate the ICP identifier.

If you can’t find your ICP, or the information is incorrect

Information is not entered by the Authority and we cannot make changes. Your local distributor is responsible for ensuring each ICP has an address. Most power companies will help you to get an incorrect address changed or find an ICP. However you can approach your distributor directly to make a change or find an ICP. If you don’t know who your distributor is, this map will help.
