Rulings Panel
The Rulings Panel is an independent body that assists in the enforcement of the Code by dealing with complaints about breaches of the Code, appeals against certain decisions made under the Code and resolving certain disputes relating to the Code.
If a complaint is upheld, the panel may:
- impose penalties against participants
- award costs or compensation
- issue suspension or termination orders
- recommend Code changes.
Members of the Rulings Panel are appointed by the Governor-General in accordance with a recommendation from the Minister of Energy and Resources after consultation with the Minister of Justice and the Electricity Authority.
