Settlement Residual Allocation Methodology (SRAM) consultation begins
|
|
The Authority has begun consultation on a proposed settlement residual allocation methodology (SRAM), which will be used to allocate surplus funds from the wholesale electricity market.
The Authority considers its proposed SRAM will encourage more efficient use of the grid, support the right investments being made at the right time and in the right places, and, over time, lead to relatively lower electricity prices for consumers.
Earlier this year we consulted on principles and options for a new SRAM. Having considered submissions, we are now proposing a new SRAM and rules on pass-through of settlement residual rebates by distributors.
Written submissions should be provided to the Authority via email to network.pricing@ea.govt.nz, by 5pm, Tuesday 27 September 2022.
Stakeholders are invited to attend an online information session on the proposed new SRAM on Monday 29 August, from 2:00 – 4:00pm.

Development of guidance on pass-through of transmission charges
|
|
The Authority is developing guidance on the treatment of transmission charges by distributors when setting lines charges, focussing on the new transmission pricing methodology (TPM) that will apply from April 2023.
The purpose of this guidance is to assist distributors with implementation while encouraging efficient and effective pricing practices and to support consistency and transparency around transmission charge pass-through.
The Authority is not running a formal consultation on the guidance, however interested stakeholders are welcome to be involved. If you are interested in reviewing the draft guidance and providing feedback, please express your interest via email to distribution.pricing@ea.govt.nz, by 5pm, Tuesday 23 August 2022.
