Settlement Agreement approved

The Authority has issued a strong warning letter to Transpower as the grid owner and approved a settlement agreement between Transpower New Zealand Limited and Contact Energy Limited following a self-reported breach by the grid owner.

The grid owner breached the Code on 25 October 2019 when it used incorrect terminal numbers on drawings. This resulted in incorrect wiring that resulted in a replacement circuit breaker initiating a trip of all generation at Contact Energy’s Ohaaki power station.

The settlement is available to view on our website.
