Intended release of Proposed Actions to Correct: UTS 2019

The Authority intends to release the Proposed Actions to Correct: Undesirable Trading Situation 2019 paper for consultation at 8.00AM Thursday,11 March 2021.

The paper will be published on the Authority’s website on the November 2019 UTS claim page.

We will send out a special market brief on Thursday to confirm release.

Consumer care guidelines technical consultation ends today

After considering feedback from submissions we made some changes to the draft consumer care guidelines. We welcome feedback on any technical drafting issues and major practical issues that would prevent retailers giving effect to the revised consumer care guidelines.
 
On Friday, 26 February we held a webinar to discuss the changes made to the consumer care guidelines and next steps in the implementation process. The slides from the webinar are available here.
 
The technical consultation closes at 5.00pm today.

Electricity Authority, Transpower and Gas Industry Company joint briefing on information disclosure - slides published

On Wednesday, 3 March the Electricity Authority, Transpower and Gas Industry Company held a joint briefing on information disclosure. The slide pack is now available on our website.
 
The Authority has also published frequently asked questions relating to the implementation of the new information disclosure reporting obligations (clauses 13.2B-L of the Code) which come into force on 1 April 2021. The FAQs will be updated on a continuous basis as we get more questions so please check back from time to time.

Raising consumer awareness of Utilities Disputes and Powerswitch services

On 1 April 2021 a Code amendment takes effect that requires retailers and distributors to raise awareness of Utilities Disputes and Powerswitch.
 
We have published guidelines, with practical examples, to support participants to comply with this Code amendment.

Metservice weather training webinar for the energy sector

“What Drives Our Weather?" is a two-part training webinar that will provide attendees an insight into the reasons for weather variability, how it can be predicted, and how people working in the energy sector can be better informed of weather events that are likely to impact on their operations, assets and planning.

Cost: $175.00 + GST per person

Reminder: Trading conduct consultation closes 23 March 2021

The Authority is consulting on a new trading conduct rule.
 
The proposed rule would replace the current trading conduct provisions in the Code which are intended to encourage appropriate trading behaviour by wholesale electricity market participants. The proposed rule is intended to provide more clarity in the interpretation and enforcement of the provisions.
