Electricity Authority Senior Leadership Team accountabilities
|
|
The Authority published its revised strategy in 2020. The strategy articulates our role in a rapidly changing sector and sets out five strategic ambitions for the sector: consumer centricity; trust and confidence; low emissions energy; thriving competition; innovation flourishing.
In response to the strategy, the Authority has been considering the allocation of accountabilities and portfolio of functions. The intent is to ensure we have the right structure in place to support delivery against all five sector ambitions.
As a result, the Authority has made some changes to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and portfolios, including retaining key people acting in leadership roles over the past year.

- disestablished the Market Performance Group; and:
- transferred the functions of the Market Analytics team, to the Market Policy Group
- transferred the Market Operations team, to Organisational Performance and Delivery
- created a new Communication and Engagement Directorate formalising the function of stakeholder engagement.
The revised SLT took effect from Monday 21 June 2021 and includes:
- Chief Executive – James Stevenson-Wallace
- General Manager Legal, Monitoring and Compliance – Sarah Gillies
- General Manager Market Policy – Andrew Doube

Settlement agreement approved
|
|
The Authority has approved a settlement agreement between Transpower New Zealand Limited, as the grid owner and as the system operator, Haast Energy Trading Limited and Mercury NZ Limited concerning a self-reported breach by the grid owner.
The breach concerned the grid owner’s failure to publish the proposed outage plan for 2019/20 by 31 January 2019. The proposed plan was never published, however some participants received information in the proposed outage plan both before and after 31 January 2019.
The settlement includes the grid owner ensuring it provides equal access to outage planning information in future.
The settlement agreement is available to view on our website.
