Final determination of the causer of the
4 February 2020 under-frequency event
|
|
Earlier this year we consulted on our draft determination for the 4 February 2020 under frequency event. No submissions were received.
We have finalised the determination that Genesis Energy Limited, is the causer of the first under-frequency event on 4 February 2020 at 23:33 hours. The reasons for our determination are available on our website.
If a substantially affected participant would like to dispute the final determination, they can provide a written notice to the Rulings Panel within
10 business days after the publication of this document. Please send notices to the Rulings Panel at registrar@electricityrulingspanel.nz by 5pm on 30 April 2021.

Compliance investigation commenced and open for participants to join
|
|
The Authority has commenced an investigation into an alleged breach of the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 by Trustpower Limited.
A non-participant alleged that Trustpower had breached clause 11.15AA when it made contact with a customer switching multiple ICPs to a gaining retailer in an attempt to retain the customer during the switch protected period.
Participants who consider they are affected by the above matter may join as a party to the investigation. To join the investigation, participants should notify the investigator no later than 23 March 2021. The investigator’s contact details are in the notice of investigation on our website.

Electricity Authority server issue
|
|
The Authority experienced an issue with its exchange server between 9.00pm on Friday, 5 March and 10pm on Monday, 8 March. We are pleased to say the issue is now resolved.
If you sent an email to the Authority during the affected period, please resend to ensure we don’t miss any communication due to the unexpected outage.

Real-time pricing online session - Thursday 25 March
|

The Authority, alongside the system operator and NZX, are hosting monthly online engagement sessions covering the market changes being delivered by the real time pricing (RTP) project. In our next session, we will look in more detail at how outages and constraints in the power system will affect prices under RTP.

On 23 February 2021 the Authority requested feedback on the technical drafting of the consumer care guidelines.

IPAG papers from 24 February 2021 meeting published
|
|
The agenda and minutes from IPAG’s 26th meeting held on 24 February 2021 have now been published.
The IPAG heard from Transpower regarding its amendments to the Demand Response (DR) protocol since the last meeting. Transpower also provided examples of potential use cases with the potential for DR during Regulatory Control Period 3 (RCP3). IPAG also considered the draft recommendations memo to the Authority.
