Consumer care policy template
|
|
Earlier this year the Authority published consumer care guidelines focusing electricity retailers on providing a consistent and supportive standard of service to all domestic consumers.
The guidelines recommend retailers should develop a consumer-facing policy document (consumer care policy) and publish it on their website by the end of 2021.
During our consultation on the consumer care guidelines, some retailers and other stakeholders suggested a consumer care policy template should be developed, to enable standardisation of consumer care policies between retailers, and to provide a more efficient outcome for retailers, consumers, and all other stakeholders.
The Electricity Retailers’ Association of New Zealand (ERANZ) has led the development of a consumer care policy template, working with interested retailers (including ERANZ and non-ERANZ members), consumer advocates, and other stakeholders. The template is now available for use and can be adapted to meet the needs of individual retailers.
Thank you to ERANZ for leading this process. The template is available on both the ERANZ and Authority website.
