Granting of exemptions 307/308
|
|
We have granted exemptions (No.307 and 308) for Mercury NZ Ltd and Accucal Ltd.
Accucal are now exempted from complying with clause 4(2)(a) of Schedule 10.7 of the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 (Code), not to use subtraction to determine submission information for ICP 0003133903AA777 and Mercury are now exempt from clause 10.24 (c) of the Code for this ICP.
These exemptions were granted due to the significant costs that would have been accrued to reconfigure the installation to be Code compliant, whilst providing minimal appreciable benefit to the customer or market.
The exemptions came into force on 23 June 2021.
The Gazette notices including our reasons for approving the exemptions are available on our website.

Consultation on improving the framework for the Authority's information gathering
|
|
The Authority is consulting on a proposed amendment to the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 (Code) to put a standardised framework in place for the ongoing provision of information to the Authority.
The Authority already collects information on a regular basis from participants via a range of approaches including using voluntary requests, under specific Code obligations, or under section 46 of the Act. However, there are shortcomings with these approaches, both for participants and the Authority.
The proposed Code amendment’s objective is to help the Authority be sufficiently informed to perform its functions, and to make it easier for industry participants to engage with the Authority around its information needs, and to efficiently provide ongoing information to the Authority.
The Authority will hold an online briefing on the proposal at 11.00am on Tuesday, 20 July 2021. Please register your interest in attending at infoframework@ea.govt.nz and we will send you information on how to join the briefing.

Participants need to populate, and keep up to date, the following email contact lists so that you will receive important notifications (like general registry outages) from the registry manager and the Authority.
- EIEP (as required)
- General messages (all registry users)
- Outages (all registry users)
- Saves protection (all traders)
- Trader default (all traders)
- Trader default network (distributors only)
- Metering alerts (as required)
The registry also has a participant contact register which can be used when you need to discuss/resolve issues and queries with other participants.
To review and update, use the organisation’s supervisor logon and under the Utilities menu in the registry select Email Groups and Contact Groups. Please contact marketoperations@ea.govt.nz if you have any questions about updating the contact details.
