Extended reserve Code amendment consultation

The Authority is consulting on a proposal to amend the extended reserve Code obligations.

The intent of the amendment is to transition the North Island AUFLS scheme to the system operator’s proposed 4-block scheme and to make explicit the testing requirements for the AUFLS systems.

The proposal will require North Island distributors to pro-actively engage with the system operator to transition their AUFLS systems to the 4-block scheme no later than June 2025.

This amendment will also re-state the AUFLS relay testing requirements removed from the Code in the 2016 Extended reserve Code amendment.

No change to the South Island AUFLS scheme or responsibility for provision is proposed.

We encourage interested stakeholders to respond with their feedback by 5.00pm on Tuesday, 11 May 2021.
