Code amendment: Electricity Industry Participation Code Amendment (Revocation of COVID-19 Deferred Payment of Distribution Charges) 2020

On Wednesday, 18 November 2020 the Electricity Industry Participation Code Amendment (Revocation of COVID-19 Deferred Payment of Distribution Charges) 2020, will come into force.
The amendment relates to Part 12A of the Code.

New exemption granted to Future Energy New Zealand trading as Energy Club
|
|
|
We have granted and gazetted an exemption for Future Energy New Zealand trading as Energy Club (Exemption No. 291). Energy Club is exempt from complying with the obligations in clauses 15.37A and 15.38(1) of the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 (Code) to arrange for regular audits and hold certification in accordance with Schedule 15.1 of the Code.

Interactive dashboards on our website

|
Our interactive dashboards page has been updated and two new dashboards have been added:
- A wholesale market snapshot showing a range of key facts and figures about the New Zealand wholesale electricity market in the most recent quarter. It also contains a range of quick facts about how elements of the market work, a history of power station construction, and other useful background information.
- A hedging strategy simulator which shows the results of purchasing hedge contracts in historic quarters based on setting simple rules for when a purchase should be made eg, a price cap.
The hedging with baseload futures tutorial dashboard has also been updated and now includes the Q3 2020 contracts.

Consultation on revised guidelines on wholesale market information disclosure - submissions published

On 20 October 2020 the Authority published our Wholesale market information disclosure – Guidelines review consultation paper.
Submissions closed on 3 November. Thank you to everyone who provided a submission.
We have now published submissions on our website.

Reminder: Guidelines for raising consumer awareness of Utilities Disputes and Powerswitch services - consultation closes today
|
|
The Authority has amended the Code to require retailers and distributors to raise consumer awareness of Utilities Disputes and Powerswitch in certain situations. To support retailers and distributors to implement this change effectively, we have produced guidelines to help retailers and distributors to understand the Code requirements, so that they can make appropriate changes to their communications.
We welcome and encourage feedback on these guidelines. The consultation closes at 5pm today.
