Real time pricing update September 2020

The Authority has been working with the system operator and NZX to progress the systems design work for the real time pricing project. At its August 2020 meeting, the Authority Board formally approved the project moving into the software build phase of its work.
 
We have now moved our focus onto developing the schedule of industry engagement sessions. A series of webinars will form the basis for communicating the systems and operational changes being implemented by the real time pricing project.

Transpower DSE project - transition update September 2020

Transpower and industry dispatch participants have been steadily progressing new dispatch service transitions since September 2019 and through the Covid-19 pandemic to meet the 31 December 2020 deadline.
 
Transpower have issued an update for participants still working through their systems upgrade.

Entries are open for the New Zealand Energy Awards

We are encouraging organisations with good energy stories to celebrate their success by entering the New Zealand Energy Awards.
 
The Authority is a proud sponsor of the Outcomes Award at the 2021 NZ Energy Awards. This award celebrates better energy outcomes for all New Zealanders. 
 
Tell your story about how you deliver accessible and inclusive energy products, services and solutions. Whether you use clever business models, smart competition, education or encourage uptake of low-cost emerging technology, the emphasis is on outcomes for consumers.
 
Details on how to enter and other award categories are on the Energy Awards website.
 
Entries are open until 14 October 2020.

MDAG new member announcements

The Authority has re-appointed Rebecca Osborne as a member of MDAG. Matthew Cleland, Fiona Wiseman and Tony Oosten have been appointed as new members of the Market Development Advisory Group (MDAG). These member appointments are for a term of three years beginning on 1 October 2020 ending 30 September 2023.

These four appointments complement the existing six members (including the Chair) on MDAG, bringing the total membership of MDAG to ten members.

Published: MDAG meeting papers and High Standard of Trading Conduct Evaluation Panel assessments

The meeting pack from the Market Development Advisory Group (MDAG) meeting held on 2 September has been published.
 
We have also published material relating to the High Standard of Trading Conduct Evaluation Panels run by MDAG. This includes the Panel assessments, case studies and terms of reference.
 
The MDAG will hold bilateral meetings with interested stakeholders to feedback on the lessons learned from the High Standard of Trading Conduct Evaluation Panels process.
 
If you would like to participate in a bilateral meeting, please let us know by 5pm on 18 September. Please email MDAG@ea.govt.nz with subject: High Standard of Trading Conduct Evaluation Panel bilateral meeting request.
 
Meetings will be held from 21 September 2020 onwards.
