2019/20 Work Programme and related documents published

We have published our 2019/20 Work Programme, along with our report to the Minister on the outcomes of the 2019/20 appropriations consultation and the summary of submissions.

The 2019/20 Work Programme responds to a number of changes that have taken place in the Authority’s external environment. We have taken a different approach to prioritising the work programme to enable us to better respond to these external factors, while continuing to:
  • promote competition in the electricity markets
  • operate the electricity system to efficiently manage security and reliability
  • increase efficiency.
The external drivers sit alongside our existing commitments to resolve long-standing and significant work programme projects that are set to deliver positive long-term benefits and promote well-being for consumers. The Authority will continue to focus on the issues that matter to consumers.

What’s My Number winter campaign now live

On Sunday, 28 July the Authority launched its 2019 national winter What’s My Number campaign designed to motivate consumers to check for potential savings and switch to a better power deal.

The campaign features television, radio, digital, and ambient media and will run until early September. Since What’s My Number started in 2011 over two million savings calculations have been made on the campaign website.

Official Conservation Campaign changes go live this week

On Tuesday, 18 June we published our decisions on our review of the arrangements for official conservation campaigns (OCCs) and Transpower’s (in its role as the system operator) new Security of Supply Forecasting and Information Policy (SOSFIP). Our key decisions are to count contingent hydro storage in relation to OCCs and retain the 10% and 8% trigger points (respectively) for starting and stopping OCCs.

This is a reminder that the resulting changes will go live this Thursday, 1 August 2019. This causes changes to Transpower’s security of supply reporting and a new standing Reserve Supply Determination (the latter will be published on the Authority website on 1 August). See the following documents for further information.
