The system operator is surveying users and potential users of the electronic dispatch service
The dispatch service is the component of the electricity market system that sends dispatch instructions to generators and reserve providers, and receives acknowledgements from them.
The system operator is undertaking a dispatch service enhancement project. This will replace the existing outdated GENCO system with a platform that offers dispatch via ICCP (inter–control centre communications protocol) and web services.
Information on the dispatch service enhancement project can be found here.
As part of this project, the system operator is surveying current and potential dispatch system users to determine their intentions in relation to the new dispatch platform. The survey can be found here.
Please complete and submit the survey by 25 January 2019.
The system operator intends to refine the modelling of constraints introduced through the National Market for Instantaneous Reserves (NMIR) to enhance market outcomes.
Implementation of the refinements to the modelling of constraints is planned for late March 2019, and updates will be provided via customer advice notices.
The system operator also plans to hold an industry briefing on this topic on 12 February 2019. If you would like to attend, please contact market.operations@transpower.co.nz by 5pm on 31 January 2019
We have published the papers from recent meetings of the Market Development Advisory Group (MDAG). These were held on 7 August 2018, 5 September 2018, 6 November 2018 and 5 December 2018.
The MDAG's focus at these meetings was progressing the two projects on its current work plan: the Review of spot market trading conduct provisions and Saves and win-backs.
Review of regulatory settings for official conservation campaigns
We are consulting on the regulatory settings for official conservation campaigns. This review is being co-ordinated with Transpower’s consultation on its review of the security of supply forecasting and information policy.
We are reviewing the principles for distribution pricing to clarify our expectation that the price anyone pays reflects the costs of the electricity distribution service they are getting.
