Electricity Authority/system operator joint development programme update

The Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 (Code) requires the Authority and the system operator (Transpower) to agree and publish a joint development programme at least annually. We have recently agreed updates to the programme that reflect progress, changes to priorities, and other project agreements that have occurred since the last publication in August 2017.

The current programme is available on our website.

Please email any questions about the programme to info@ea.govt.nz

Security and Reliability Council appointments

We recently sought nominations to fill three positions on the Security and Reliability Council (SRC).

The SRC Charter specifies a range of selection criteria and requires the SRC as a whole to include:

  • a balance of knowledge regarding the long-term interests of consumers
  • power systems engineering and analysis
  • generation and demand-side management technologies
  • regulatory and economic analysis

We received nominations from a number of highly qualified candidates and we are pleased to announce:

  • the reappointment of Vince Hawksworth
  • the appointment of Greg Skelton
  • the appointment of Nathan Strong

The terms of all three members expire on 31 March 2021. SRC member biographies are available on our website.

Call for nominations for new IPAG member

We’re calling for nominations for a member of the Innovation and Participation Advisory Group (IPAG).

In addition to the skills and experience generally required of IPAG members, the Authority is particularly interested in nominations from people with experience in representing household consumer perspectives.

The Authority is aiming to appoint a new member to the IPAG in June 2018, for a term ending in September 2019.

More details, including the nomination form, charter and terms of reference, are available on our website.

Nominations close at 5pm on Tuesday, 17 April.

Current consultation

Review of two aspects of the customer compensation scheme

We’re consulting on our review of two aspects of the customer compensation scheme (CCS). The aspects are: addressing possible inefficiencies in how the CCS handles customer switching during conservation campaigns; and whether the minimum weekly amount of the default compensation scheme should be calculated annually.

Started: 20/02/2018; Ending: 10/04/2018 5pm
