Submissions on review of wholesale market information disclosure regime consultation paper

 
 

We have published submissions received on the consultation we released in August 2017 on the review of the wholesale market information (WMI) disclosure regime. 

Our consultation paper proposed: 

  • replacing the ‘commercial disadvantage’ exclusion from making wholesale market information available with a ‘reasonable person’ exclusion
  • changing the timeframe to correct misleading, deceptive or incorrect information
  • updating the WMI guidelines.

FTR manager consultation: variation to the FTR allocation plan

 
 

The financial transmission rights (FTR) manager, Transpower New Zealand Limited, is consulting on changes to the rules that govern how FTRs are allocated in the FTR market. The changes include a proposal to introduce up to three new FTR hubs and a process for removing FTR hubs.

Submissions close at 5 pm on Monday, 4 December 2017.

Call for nominations for Standing Data Formats Group

 
 

We are calling for nominations for one distributor member and two metering equipment provider members to the Standing Data Formats Group (SDFG). The SDFG provides independent advice to the Authority on information exchange protocols between:

  • participants and the market operation service providers
  • participants and consumers
  • participants and third-party providers.
The expected term of appointment is three years. We intend to appoint the successful nominees in November 2017.

Nominations and accompanying documents (as described in the call for nominations) should be emailed to marketoperations@ea.govt.nz, with 'Nomination for SDFG membership' in the subject line, by 5 pm on Tuesday, 31 October 2017.

The Authority supports the Energy Trader Forum. The Forum’s quarterly meetings provide insight and updates for all electricity market participants. 

The November quarterly meeting will be held in Wellington and is a fascinating afternoon of information and networking for those interested in the electricity markets. The agenda is available at the link below.

We have published an issues and options paper that identifies a range of development options that, in theory, could better integrate the arrangements for clearing and settling exchange-traded products and other wholesale market transactions.

We have published a consultation paper for our proposal to amend the Code to improve the offer arrangements for wind generation. The proposed amendment would allow wind generators to offer their generation in up to five price bands, like most other generators.
