Transpower’s proposed variation to the Transmission Pricing Methodology (TPM)

In response to the Authority referring back three components of Transpower’s proposed variation to the TPM, Transpower has resubmitted the HVDC charging component of its proposal (unchanged). This component proposes to change the allocation of HVDC costs to South Island generators from a peak (MW) to an average (MWh) injection. Transpower recommends further work on de-rating injection in the Upper South Island in relation to the HVDC charge. If de-rating were included in the TPM, this would not occur until at least 2016. The Authority and Transpower will be discussing the appropriate process and timing for this work.

Transpower has withdrawn the NZAS summer load limit component and the line maintenance recovery rates components of its proposal.
