We have released an audio recording of the spot market review workshop held on 15 April 2015.
The workshop provided the opportunity for people to ask questions of the experts we engaged to consider refinements to the spot market, as part of our review.
Retail data project: access to consumption data formats and procedures consultation
We have amended the Code to require retailers to provide consumers, or their agents, with their electricity consumption data. This is a consumer-focused initiative intended to promote competition in the retail market. This amendment will take effect from 1 February 2016. It will make it easier for consumers to use their consumption data to make decisions about their retailer and retail tariff options.
In order to support the standardised exchange of data, we have developed three electricity information exchange protocols (EIEP) formats and a procedures document. The EIEP format is regulated under the Code.
Before finalising these documents we are seeking feedback from interested parties.
Consultation on the EIEP formats and procedure will run from 28 April until 5pm on 12 May 2015.
The Authority/system operator joint development programme update has been published
The Authority and the system operator are required by the Code to agree and publish a joint development programme (JDP) at least annually. We have recently agreed updates to the plan that reflect progress, changes to priorities and other project agreements that have occurred since the publication last November.
Please email any questions about the programme to admin@ea.govt.nz
