We are providing an opportunity for you to ask questions of Dr Howard Haas from Monitoring Analytics and Greg Thorpe from Oakley Greenwood, the two experts who helped the Authority consider options for New Zealand’s electricity spot market that would improve retail and hedge market competition.
The session will be held at 9.30am on 15 April 2015 in the Authority’s boardroom, 1½ hours before the bi-monthly regulatory managers’ and consumers’ meeting.
Greg Thorpe has worked in the electricity industry for over 35 years. He was heavily involved in the design and early operation of the Australian NEM and the Victorian state market, working as an Associate Director of the National Electricity Code Administrator and Manager Codes and Rules for the Victorian Power Exchange. Since 2001 he has worked extensively for NEM regulatory bodies and market participants and is a member of the Australian Energy Regulator’s dispute resolution panel.
Dr Howard Haas has been the Deputy Market Monitor at PJM Interconnection since 2004, where he has been responsible for directing analysis and monitoring of PJM markets. He has over 18 years of applied and theoretical micro economic analysis experience, including 13 years in electricity market design and regulatory economics.
If you would like to attend in person or via the web, please RSVP by 5pm Friday 10 April 2015 to info@ea.govt.nz, with “Spot market review workshop” in the subject line.
Please include any questions you have and to which expert they are directed (if this is important).
