Understanding and engaging with stakeholders is fundamental to the Authority’s role. Ongoing and meaningful engagement promotes confidence in decisions, helps build and maintain trust in the regulator, and supports improved market design and performance.

Every day, across all levels, we engage with people who have a vested interest in what we do and the decisions we make. We treat these relationships seriously, as the quality of these relationships will determine how we fulfil our purpose.

We have a stakeholder engagement strategy which sets out what stakeholders should expect when engaging with us at the Authority. We have adopted four key principles to guide our stakeholder engagement activities:

  • Purposeful and timely: we have a clear understanding of what we want to achieve
  • Inclusive and informed: we identify relevant stakeholders and give opportunities to engage
  • Transparent and accountable: we are open and honest in our engagement
  • Measured and refined: we will hold ourselves to account and seek to improve

Stakeholder engagement covers all interactions with our stakeholders including formal and informal engagement, ad-hoc and planned. Our stakeholder engagement strategy supports the consultation charter(external link), with a broader focus on supporting a cohesive and integrated approach to all stakeholder engagement activities across the Authority.
