Archive - Wind integration project (WIP)
The earlier Wind Generation Integration Project (WGIP) made a number of recommendations to integrate wind generation into New Zealand's power system, particularly in relation to the provision of accurate pre-dispatch information and the ability of the power system to handle large scale unpredicted changes in wind generation.
Wind Forecasting Monitoring Reports
An outcome from the Wind Integration Project was for the Electricity Authority to monitor the accuracy of the generation forecasts provided by each wind farm.
Consultation
The Commission published a Wind Forecasting and market integration options consultation paper in March 2010. Submissions were generally in favour of the Commission's view.
Both the quarterly reports and consultation documents are available on the data portal.

Wind Integration Workshop
The Commission's conclusions following submissions on the wind forecast and market integration options consultation paper were presented to the New Zealand Wind Energy Association's Wind Integration Workshop held in Wellington on 11 August 2010.
Wind Energy Conference 2010
The Commission gave a presentation on the contents of its wind forecast and market integration options consultation paper to the New Zealand Wind Energy Association's 2010 conference.
Wind Energy Conference 2009
The Electricity Commission gave a presentation on the Wind Integration Project to the New Zealand Wind Energy Association's 2009 Conference.

Project Plan
The Electricity Commission Board approved the Wind Integration Project Plan at its meeting on 23/24 September 2008.
