Archive - Win-backs and saves
The Electricity Authority (Authority) undertook a project to understand the effects on retail competition from the retailer marketing practices known as saves and win-backs. In the retail electricity market, a save occurs when a defending retailer convinces a customer to cancel an incomplete switch to an acquiring retailer. A win-back occurs when the customer completes the switch, but the defending retailer later persuades the customer to return. The Authority was concerned that these practices could be limiting the growth of retail competition.
