In November 2011, the Authority commenced a project to assess the level of within-island basis risk (WIBR, or intra-island locational price risk). The project was split into two distinct phases. The first phase assessed the level of WIBR in the North and South islands. The second phase considered options for developing a mechanism for industry participants to manage their exposure to WIBR.
