Archive - Barriers to group switching and mass-market aggregation
Buying groups are a useful tool for consumers to improve their bargaining position. They are common in parts of the electricity market here and overseas, but not in the residential sector in New Zealand. This project examined opportunities and benefits to consumers of buying groups for retail electricity. The project also assessed factors limiting the creation or success of buying groups for retail electricity, and whether any of these factors should have been addressed by the Authority.
