The Electricity Authority uses Twitter to communicate with people interested in New Zealand’s electricity market, including those involved in the sector. While these terms focus on Twitter the same principles apply to our other social media accounts.

By following the Electricity Authority Twitter account you can expect between 1-5 posts per week. Information tweeted may include the following:

  • information and insights about New Zealand’s electricity market
  • invitations and reminders about Electricity Authority consultations 
  • details about key Electricity Authority projects and events
  • information about recruitment opportunities at the Authority.

Retweets, @replies, commentary, and third party content

While we will attempt to answer questions, the Electricity Authority’s main statutory objective is to promote competition, reliability and efficiency in the electricity market. The Authority's additional objective is to protect the interests of domestic and small business consumers in relation to the supply of electricity to those consumers. We cannot enter into political discussions.

We may choose to retweet, mention or post information from other Twitter accounts and users. In doing this we do not endorse or guarantee the accuracy of this information. We reserve the right to remove advertising.

In choosing to follow us you are also subject to the Twitter Terms of Service and Twitter Rules.

Monitoring

The Electricity Authority Twitter account is monitored during business hours and sporadically outside of business hours.

We reserve the right to remove content which does not comply with the Twitter Terms of Service or Twitter Rules.

In addition, we reserve the right to remove content which is:

  • not relevant
  • is deemed offensive
  • has political bias
  • refers to commercial activity, including advertising.

We will aim to respond to questions within 24 hours.
