11 March - Electricity Authority appoints Rory Blundell as GM Market Performance
The Electricity Authority has announced the appointment of Rory Blundell to the role of General Manager of Market Performance; part of the regulator’s senior leadership team. He replaces Dr Bruce Smith who resigned earlier in 2015 for health reasons.
Mr Blundell is currently Manager-Integrated Portfolio at Contact Energy Ltd, where he has previously held strategic and analytical management positions. He has a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and a Bachelor of Engineering Science, both from the University of Auckland.
Mr Blundell says “I’m looking forward to building on the body of work delivered by Bruce and his team and continuing to consistently produce robust and insightful analysis that drives benefits for New Zealand consumers.
This is an exciting opportunity to support the ongoing evolution of the electricity market.”
The Authority’s Market Performance team is responsible for monitoring the market, undertaking market performance reviews and providing data and modelling tools to the Authority and stakeholders.
