Judi Jones and Barbara Elliston have both been appointed to three-year terms.

Chair of the Electricity Authority Brent Layton says, “We’re very pleased to have two such highly-qualified candidates joining this important independent advisory council. Their experience also complements that of the other current members of the Council.”

Judi Jones is currently the independent Electricity and Gas Complaints Commissioner and was appointed to establish the Electricity Complaints Commission Scheme in 2002. She has previously served as Chair of the Consumers’ Institute and as a consumer representative on the electricity industry’s Grid Security Committee.

Barbara Elliston is a director of Elliston Power Consultants Ltd, Counties Power Limited and Easy Warm Ltd, as well as being on the Board of the Australian Solar Council. Barbara's previous roles include directorships with Genesis Energy and Transpower as well as directorship and management roles with Comalco New Zealand Ltd.

The SRC is a statutory body established under the Electricity Industry Act 2010. It provides advice to the Electricity Authority on the performance of New Zealand’s electricity system, the system operator and the reliability of electricity supply. It is made up of nine senior members of the New Zealand electricity industry and consumer bodies. Expressions of interest are currently being sought for the role of independent Chairperson of the SRC.
